Dit is wat ik ontdekte, en wat ik had willen weten 3 bandjes geleden.
De afgelopen 18 maanden heb ik 3 bandjes versleten op de bouw. Een Garmin Fenix 7 (het bandje scheurde aan een stuk betonijzer), een Casio Pro Trek (het kunststof bandje knapte in de kou) en het goedkope siliconen bandje dat ik als noodoplossing probeerde en dat zo'n 6 weken meeging. Bij elkaar gaf ik zo'n € 1.300 uit aan horloges en vervangende bandjes die in een la zijn beland.
Ze liggen allemaal in een la.
De goedkoopste die ik probeerde, de Gard Pro Ultra 3 van € 119,99, zit nog steeds om mijn pols. Zelfde bandje. Zelfde horloge. Dit is precies wat het verschil maakte.
Het bandje van de Ultra 3 is van versterkt siliconen met een metalen pengesp. 7 maanden later zit er geen scheurtje in.
Ik heb het langs steigerklemmen gehaald, door nat beton gesleept en aan het eind van de dag onder de kraan afgespoeld. Het ziet er nog uit als op de dag dat ik het uitpakte. En mocht het ooit kapotgaan, dan dekt GardCare+ vervanging van het bandje.
Elk robuust horloge claimt 'sterk' te zijn. De meeste zijn nergens specifiek op getest. Ze plakken het woord gewoon op de doos.
De Ultra 3 is MIL-STD-810H-gecertificeerd, hetzelfde testprotocol dat het Amerikaanse leger gebruikt voor velduitrusting. 29 afzonderlijke robuustheidstests: vallen, schokken, trillingen, stof, vocht, vriestemperaturen, zoutnevel, noem maar op. Het is de enige spec op de doos die iets betekent op de bouwplaats.
Mijn Garmin stond woensdagmiddag al op 20%. De halve week vergat ik hem op te laden en dan ging hij gewoon uit aan mijn pols.
De Ultra 3 gaat meer dan een week mee op één lading bij normaal gebruik. Tot 90 dagen in de energiebesparingsmodus. Ik leg hem zondagochtend op de lader terwijl ik koffie drink. De rest van de week denk ik er niet meer aan.
Op de bouw heb ik geen 47 apps nodig. Ik heb de tijd nodig, de datum, een stopwatch als ik een betonstort tim, bellen vanaf mijn pols als mijn telefoon in de bus ligt en een hartslagmeting als ik de hele dag de ladder op en af ga.
De Ultra 3 doet dat allemaal, plus SpO₂, slaap en stress. Geen medische diagnose, gewoon een dagelijkse check van wat er gebeurt. De dual-band GPS is ook een mooie bonus, ik heb in het weekend een wandeling getrackt en die was net zo nauwkeurig als mijn Garmin vroeger.
Ik ben geen app-mens. Mijn vorige installatie duurde een half uur en ik zat alsnog te googelen waarom mijn meldingen niet binnenkwamen.

The watch is great when comparing it to the Apple ultra top spec which I still use. The Gardpro is literally plug and play, battery life is amazing, highly recommend it for those looking for a time piece that pretty much covers everything a smart watch should. Subtle difference in the calorie measurement though, seems to tally less than the Apple does. Suppose it could be down to settings and config etc… either way great product. Need more watch faces to choose from..

I bought this watch for my wife because I was so impressed with my own. My wife has several medical issues that require her to monitor her BP, heart rate and body temperature at regular intervals. She has also started trying to increase the number of steps a day to help herself. The Gardpro can do all of this and more for a very competitive price. Highly recommend.
This watch is for my teenage son and he loves it. He says it has long battery life. He checks his text messages, measures his workouts and progress, and says it fits well. Delivery took a little longer than I was expecting but that wasn't a big deal.
The watch is of a very good build quality, it looks sleek and premium. Super easy to set up and the battery (so far) is amazing as I have not had to charge it yet and it's been nearly three weeks! I would certainly recommend as I personally can't justify the prices of the 'branded' smart watches but with this one you dont need to. Loads of features and all working well.
